PMC Internet Limited is supporting the Wales Air Ambulance (Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru) in their continued effort to save lives across North, Mid & South Wales. As with all Air Ambulance services, they do a great job in sometimes quite extraordinary and hazardous conditions.

With the help of Bluewave Media, PMC Internet has been able to secure an SMS text number to help in efforts to raise cash for this worthy cause. The conditions are below, as are some details about their efforts and missions. This really is such a worthwhile cause, especially if you live somewhere in wales or the Midlands. To date (8th Oct, 2007), they have completed 7'732 missions with 3 Helicopters based at Caernarfon, Welshpool & Swansea. If you can help, please do... You just never know when you may need one of the very capable Helimed crews yourself!

The Wales Air Ambulance paramedics are all employed by the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and work on the Air Ambulance on shifts lasting between three and four days; when they are not flying they work at ambulance stations throughout Wales.

The Code names for the Air Ambulances are: Helimed 57 – Swansea (launched March 2001) Helimed 59 – Welshpool (launched June 2006) Helimed 61 – Caernarfon (launched July 2003) It is a misconception that Helimed crews simply respond to climbers and walkers who get injured in Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons and other rural beauty spots. In reality, about 40 per cent of all its missions are to road traffic collisions, and these, unfortunately, occur all over Wales.

All proceeds from text messaging 'PMC' to 83149 are donated to the Air Ambulance without question.

From the fees we still have to pay the service providers for maintaining the number. Below are the charges you must be aware of before texting to this service. If you have Text 'PMC' to 83149, it will be assumed you have read and understood these short terms.

SMS Text messages to this service cost £1.00 + your standard SMS text cost. This means if you normally pay 0.12p for a text, you will be charged £1.12p (example only).

Although we understand that this is a high cost in comparison for using a normal SMS service, the cost for 1 single mission of a Helimed crew runs into the thousands. If you multiply that by the missions they have done, the figure is astounding!
